FAQ's

Which is better in terms of fees, studies, placements, food and hostels, KIIT or GITAM University?
Both are almost similar institutes and choosing one among them is difficult. But based on the reviews I got from my friends, I will say GITAM University is slightly better than KIIT University. Let us compare the two in some detail. Accreditation - GITAM University is graded A+ by NAAC while KIIT University is graded A by NAAC. Faculty - Both the universities are almost the same. Infrastructure - KIIT University definitely has better infrastructure than GITAM University. Clubs and social life - There are many clubs and organizations at both the institutes and if you want you can join one as well. But it totally depends on the individual. Placements - KIIT University definitely has a slightly better placement record than GITAM University. But that is mainly due to the fact that many students at GITAM University opt for MS, MBA, and other higher education. Many students opting for higher studies leading to lower placement stats than KIIT University. Institute GITAM University KIIT University Average CTC 4 LPA 6 LPA Highest CTC 19 LPA 30 LPA Total no of offers 2850+ 3500 Major recruiters Wipro, Accenture, CTS Cognizant, Capgemini, Wipro If you are really hard-working, skilled, and deserving then you will get placed at any university. So do not go blind only on placement statistics.
Which college is better: VIT Chennai or KIIT?
A few of my friends graduated from VIT Chennai and KIIT and here are some insight from their experience which may be of help. KIIT will be a better choice just because it's the main campus, the placements are almost at par and you get more freedom to enjoy college life. But VIT does have an edge over many things, and even if you go to VIT Chennai, the placement opportunities will be the same. Here are the recent placement statistics for the institutes. Particulars VIT Chennai KIIT Highest CTC INR 41.6 LPA INR. 30 LPA Average CTC INR 7.3 LPA INR. 6 LPA Top recruiters Infosys, Accenture, Deloitte TCS, Capgemini, Wipro Consider other factors as well, things like which is nearer to your home town, where are your friends going, the fee structure, the branch you are taking, etc
Which is best between Maharaja Suraj Mal and KIIT?
One of my cousins studied at KIIT and it is an amazing college in East India, with a wonderful infrastructure, skilled faculties, and placement records. The alumni network of KIIT is its biggest asset. On the other hand, Maharaja SurajMal College has a decent campus. The infrastructure is quite old and students complain about the cleanliness around the campus pretty often. There is WiFi service throughout the campus. The library is common for all the branches and is not maintained well. Curriculum: It is pretty much the same at both KIIT and Maharaja Suraj Mal College. But the facilities offered at KIIT are far better. Diversity: The student crowd on campus at Maharaja Suraj Mal is pretty diverse. The surroundings around campus are safe for girls. The female-to-male student ratio is around 40:60 Crowd at KIIT is kind of monotonous. Students belong to either West Bengal, Jharkhand, or Bihar. The place is a bit boring when compared to Maharaja College. Placements: Particulars KIIT Maharaja Surajmal College Number of students placed 2500 497 Total recruiters 90 54 Highest CTC offered 30 LPA 18 LPA Average CTC offered 6.5 LPA 4.8 LPA Placement rate 94% 90% Now that you have almost a clear picture of both KIIT and Maharaja Surajmal college, make a wise decision for yourself considering all the above mentioned factors.
Is it difficult for Delhi students to fit in KIIT Bhubaneswar? Do students from all over India join KIIT or only from Odisha and nearby states?

Does KIIT University have an entrepreneurship cell? Is it active?
According to my friends studying at KIIT, yes, the E-cell is definitely very active and you will have several benefits if you plan to be associated with the KIIT E-cell even if you do not wish to be an entrepreneur: Internships: Every year, annual internship camps are hosted in March where about 30 to 50 different startups offer internships. You can appear for 3 to 5 of these and can even bag PPOs worth INR 8 to 10 lakhs. Mentorship: Most students in their 20s look for mentorships. The E-cell is known to have a good network of mentors, be it for carriers or startups. Many of my friends have personally got good mentorships for their startups. Diversity: The people in the cell are recruited from the School of Technology, School of Management, Biotech as well as Law. This helps you network with people from different domains. This will allow you to explore things from different perspectives. Exposure: With the E-cell, you can get in touch with investors, startup founders as well as policy makers. You will learn a lot from their shared experiences. Network and Team Building: At the E-cell, you will find a lot of like-minded individuals where you will be able to find a co-founder or a team of people to help you sort things out. With this network, you can even get in touch with prospective investors ready to fund your startup. Skill building: You can even work for startups in your free time. This will help you build your skillset and resume. Individual attention is provided and many community learning programs are also available. In conclusion, the E-cell is definitely useful at KIIT and will be helpful to you in many ways.
What should I choose? CSE from "KIIT University" or IT from "College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar"?
It is suggested you choose CSE at KIIT University. One of my friends studied there. According to him, there is no comparison between the branch of KIIT CSE and CET. The companies visiting KIIT include major names such as Microsoft, Amazon, SAP, Dell, Intel, HP. Placements are one of the things you must check before entering a university. KIIT offers good investments. The entire academic and non-academic exposure at KIIT is far greater. The faculty members are qualified from IITs and top NITs. They are skilled and cooperative. Categories CSE at KIIT University Course Fee 12.91 lakh Course Duration 4 years Placement Percentage 80% Highest CTC 39 LPA Average CTC 10-12 LPA Recruiting Companies Dell, HCL, Infosys, Capgemini, etc. The program applies to CSE, except that in the first semester you have to study biology. KIIT develops practical applications for students as well as the theory of study.
Which one would you choose for studying law: UPES, Dehradun or KIIT, Bhubaneshwar? Why would you choose it?
Among the above institutes, KIIT Bhubaneswar is definitely the best choice for law students, considering almost all the factors except the quality of hostels. I will try to give you some idea about both the institute based on what I heard from my friends who attends these two Law School. KIIT has an excellent reputation. It is older than UPES too. Considering all general aspects like placement, curriculum, facilities, etc, KIIT will surpass UPES. The only thing that UPES will win over is the quality of hostels, which is manageable in KIIT, but far better in UPES. The student crowd at KIIT is definitely better than that of UPES. UPES has a peer group similar to that of Amity. An essential aspect that affects the decision of students is the proximity of the institute from their homes or the available connectivity between the college and home. Students, who are first time going out of home for study, should try to stay close to their homes and choose institutes accordingly. Considering the placements in law, it totally depends on your inclination towards corporate, individual practice, or the judiciary. KIIT will provide you with the required aptitude for preparation in individual practice or judiciary. But, UPES provides better commercial learning and promotes corporate careers to its students. Another trying that you should consider while choosing an institute is the distance of your hometown and connectivity. If this is your first time staying away from home, it may be wise to choose an institute nearby. All that being said, do consider the above factors and choose the institute that will provide you enough opportunities to explore what you want.
Who are the best professors at KIIT University?
One of my friends had passed out of KIIT University back in 2017, so my answer would be based on whatever input I have received from him. From the Department of Computer Engineering particularly, here is a list of one of the finest teachers present there at KIIT University: Arup Acharya Abhik Gorai (Analog & Digital Signals) Chittaranjan Pradhan (Database Management System) Nachiketa Tarasia (Data Structure) Manas Lenka (Computer Networks) Apart from academics, my friend also gave me an additional list of teachers who will boost your morale and give you great motivation, here are some names: Achyuta Samanta (Founder of KIIT) Lalit Vashishtha Sandeep Chatterjee Prachet Bhuyan In order to judge who exactly is the best, you should observe and decide it for yourself. Apart from that, these were some of the finest at KIIT.
Which is better, IT in IEM, Kolkata or CSE in KIIT?
IT in IEM is better than a CSE in KIIT. Be it faculty, the quality of education, the student crowd, everything is much better than SRM, VIT, etc. (basically, any private institute). Don’t judge the institute by rankings, it often fails to depict the quality of an institute. There are a few things about IEM that you should keep in mind before you decide. Relatively cheaper fee structure. Better gentry of students is seen at IEM than at KIIT. You would manage to save enough money if you are aiming for higher education due to more affordable course fees. The placements have a very subjective approach, so just try and work on making your skills better. There is no coding culture at any of these two institutes. Having said that, the decision entirely depends upon you. But I would insist that IEM is much better and would be a wiser choice than KIIT.
Which is better: KIIT University or Heritage Institute of Technology?
KIIT has more dominance in the educational sector than that of Heritage Institute of Technology due to several reasons. Both of them are private institutions, but KIIT has more tie-ups with universities abroad for special programs than Heritage. When speaking about education we have to keep the factors of Fees, Alumni, and Placements, etc. KIIT has emerged with great colors when compared to Heritage in almost all the stats. KIIT has a better infrastructure and campus overall. My labs are exquisitely made and well designed. Categories KIIT University Heritage Institute of Technology Course Fee 9.75 - 18.99 lakh 2.95 - 3.93 lakh Placement Percentage 70% 95% Highest CTC 39 LPA 10-20 LPA Average CTC 6 LPA 4 LPA Recruiting Companies Dell, JSW Cement, Tata Steel, HCL, etc. TCS, Wipro, Infosys, IBM, etc. Heritage, when compared to KIIT, has less number of companies visiting the campus and the placement packages don’t go so high. At KIIT placements of all kinds are made and dream companies visit the university and recruit some capable students. KIIT is also better connected to the industry due to its internships and brand name. KIIT has higher exposure for the students in the market because of its wide alumni network and the recognition it has gained over the years.
