Latest Updates: Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur has announced the JoSAA Counselling schedule. Round 1 Seat Allocation will start from October 17, 2021.

VNIT Nagpur is well known for its undergraduate B.Tech programme which is offered under eight different specializations of Engineering via regular mode. Admission to the B.Tech programme is done through the JEE Main entrance examination followed by the JoSAA Counselling process. 

Candidates seeking admission in the B.Tech Programme of VNIT Nagpur can apply for the JEE Main 2021 examination by visiting the official website of conducting body NTA. However, the JEE Main 2021 session 4 exam is scheduled to be held on August 26, 27, 31, 2021 and the session 3 exam is being conducted in the month of July 2021.

Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology popularly known as VNIT, Nagpur offers an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in technology. It offers 9 specializations under the B.Tech course. All B.Tech courses are for 4 years. Admission to all B.Tech courses is done on the basis of marks secured by students in the national level exam for B.Tech i.e. JEE Main. To apply at VNIT Nagpur, a candidate must secure at least 75% marks in PCM at the intermediate level. The admissions procedure is conducted by JOSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority). Joint Seat Allocation Authority or JOSAA conducts the JOSAA counseling process in seven rounds for all the eligible candidates.

BITS Goa is anytime better than all the NITs in India. The following are the reasons. BITS Goa has a huge brand name. It is a Tier-1 engineering college in India. You are comparing two different branches; Computer (CSE) and Electrical (EEE). If you are naturally inclined towards a particular branch, then you should choose it no matter the institute. If you are not sure about the branch then let me share some facts I got to know while researching about the institutes. NIRF Engineering Ranking 2020 – VNIT Nagpur is ranked 27 while NIT Surathkal is ranked 13. Academics – In this regard both are equal. Some professors are good and some are really bad. Extra-Curricular Activities – NIT Surathkal is way better than VNIT Nagpur. You will always find some activity happening on the campus. VNIT Nagpur does not have any such activities being conducted regularly. Campus location – VNIT Nagpur is actually better than NIT Surathkal. Although the Surathkal beach which is right beside the college looks good in photos, the same cannot be said in person. The VNIT Nagpur campus on the other hand is clean and green. Workshops – At VNIT Nagpur most of the workshops organized by the clubs are paid while at NIT Surathkal most of them were free and open to all. Which is better, VNIT Nagpur or IIIT Allahabad, for the ECE branch?
One of my acquaintances has a better opinion on the same. He says that if you opt to take admission at IIIT Allahabad, then you are more likely to have better opportunities in the IT field. Mostly, the students of ECE are thoroughly engaged in coding and are known to study ECE because of reasons that center around only graduating. While, on the flip side, in VNIT Nagpur, the students pursue ECE because they are interested in it. However, the placements of IT field are more likely to surpass the number of placements seen in ECE fields. This is because the core hardware companies relatively do not share the same amount of trust with the freshers. If you want to obtain a better salary package after graduating from a B.Tech course, then going for IIIT, Allahabad can be a superior option. While, if you relevantly want to pursue your career in most of the core ECE companies, then it is suggested that you opt for VNIT, Nagpur. Which is better, VNIT for metallurgy or NIT Raipur for IT?
One of my acquaintances who has graduated from VNIT has asked me to choose my institute by keeping the following points in mind. VNIT for metallurgy would be a suitable choice for you if you don’t have a particular liking. Apart from that, the metallurgy of VNIT holds an enviable position in India. The syllabus for metallurgy is vast and involves a lot of memorization. If you want CS and unfortunately end up not getting it, the next logical step would be to choose IT. The syllabus of IT and CS are almost the same. In the big picture, it will have little importance if you complete your B.Tech from VNIT or NIT Raipur. You will have a degree and you will not regret the decision you made. IT has a lot of scopes. Later down the road, if you want to continue with your higher studies, you will be capable of switching to almost any department pertaining to computers. IT from NIT Raipur is an excellent choice. The scope in the metallurgy sector is limited nowadays. It is obviously your call, though. There is vast scope in IT like research, job, etc.
Which one is better for computer science and engineering and why: VNIT Nagpur, NIT Calicut, or NIT Rourkela
Nobody can answer that fully because no one can attend the three institutes and compare all three of them, in fact, what you can do is ask individuals and pass outs from these and compare their critique and pros. Since, one of my friends studied at VNIT Nagpur, so I might be able to help with the basic details. Pros The placements are excellent wherein 75% of the department gets placed in the first couple of months of the final year. Eventually, at the end of the academic year, only the students who either need to clear some subjects or have very little CGPA don't get placed, hardly 10–15 students out of 90. Around 20 students out of 90 of the second year and 70 students out of 90 of the third year receive summer internships which is a very good amount. Experienced teaching faculty and staff with expertise in their respective subjects. Good coding culture, coding club, and monthly internal coding contests to develop your skills. You also get a lot of free time especially in CSE in which you can develop your own projects and publish research papers. Any other college like VNIT Nagpur will have their own set of pros and cons, it finally depends on you to give priority to the one you like.
In terms of placements, should I go for the IIIT in Allahabad or the VNIT for an MTech in CSE?
When speaking in terms of placement records, IIIT Allahabad is known only for B.Tech. However, M.Tech at the same institution tends to not get great offers. In fact, most companies do not permit M.Tech students from IIITA to sit for specific interviews. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Hashedin, Morgan Stanley didn’t allow M.Tech students to sit for the interviews one particular year. That is one reason behind why IIIT, Allahabad does not make the placement stats clearly open in a branch-specific manner. You, as a student, should prefer M.Tech at NIT Nagpur. Mentioned below are the statistics of M.Tech placements of VNIT Nagpur. Students Placed (PG) 64 Average CTC 10-11.5 LPA Recruiting Companies Amazon, Directi, DE Shaw, Zomato, Samsung R&D, etc. It is important to note that MTech IT (i.e., Intelligent Systems) is very well known at IIITA. If you are choosing to do Intelligent Systems at IIITA, then you will not regret that decision. You definitely will have the chance to sit for every company interview. However, if you do not get Intelligent Systems, then opting to go for NIT Nagpur is highly recommended. If I am interested in mechanical engineering, which is better, COEP, the College of Engineering Pune, or VJTI in Mumbai, and are they both comparable to VNIT in Nagpur?
As a student you should check the following areas and take them into consideration while choosing a particular institution. Research- VNIT, and COEP beats VJTI in these criteria. Students can do research here under college professors on winter vacations. Placements- VNIT provides unpaid internships to students through the alumni association. IT companies offer job opportunities to people from computer science, electronics, electrical with a CGPA of 7. The same scenario is present in VJTI and COEP. They may provide better opportunities than VNIT. However, there are decent placements for mechanical engineering both in VJTI and VNIT. There are ample hostel facilities for the students. Students can interact and socialize with people not only from Maharashtra but from all over India. There are almost eight batches for the department with 60-90 students. Student Activities- VNIT excels in expectations than COEP & VJTI with myriad festivals, clubs, and extra-curricular. Research after Bachelors’- Lots of VNIT students get themselves into research work after their graduation. However, there is no available information for VJTI and COEP. Considering all the aspects listed above, VNIT seems a better choice for mechanical engineering than COEP Pune and VJTI Mumbai.
